The Story Behind Meraki Supply Co.

Meraki started from a place of personal frustration, and feeling as if the market was lacking a specific product that I needed myself - a bag that could keep up with me while I was doing the things that I loved most, without compromising my aesthetic.

I grew up among a family of watermen, spending my mornings sleeping on the floor of a crab boat before school. From an early age, I truly got to experience a male-dominated culture on the water, and quickly realized the lack of products for women. In fact, the lack of products to express yourself, for men and women. I have always worn the smallest size male oil skins, which come in three colors: orange, white, or green. Paired with rubber boots that come in grey or white. I've hated it for as long as I can remember. I always felt like my ability to express myself was limited, while on the water.

In the last few years of living in Indonesia, spending everyday under the sun and in the waves, I quickly realized that a dry bag was a necessity for an adventure-loving, surfer like myself. I needed a bag that could keep up with my sun-drenched lifestyle, that was easy to clean out, and would keep my stuff dry on the boat, when going out to surf reef breaks every morning. So my search started...

I went to dozens of surf shops, looking for a dry bag, but ran into the same problem. I found several dry bags, but everything that I found had zero character to it. They were all a solid color, lacking any personality. I immediately felt frustrated, and like us women of the water weren't considered when these products were being designed. I felt like my ability to express myself, while doing my passions was being hindered.

That's when my gears started turning. I starting thinking of how I could help people, especially us adventurous men and women, express themselves while doing their passions, using dry bags. This didn't need to be a product that just had a responsibility, but I needed this dry bag to be a product that allows us to express our individuality as well. If beach towels and purses compliment our style, why shouldn't a dry bag!

My goal with Meraki is to make people feel empowered and confident, while encouraging everyone to live the life of their dreams. The idea of our bags is to make your life easier, having a waterproof bag, but also to make ya look good while doing what you love to do most.

I want to personally thank you for taking the time to read about how this dream came to fruition.
